Philippe E. Spiess

MD Moffitt Cancer Center, USA Philippe E. Spiess is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Genitourinary Oncology at the Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, Canada, subsequent to which he completed his urology surgical residency at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and he obtained an M.S. degree in the field of experimental surgery from McGill University. He completed his Royal College certification in urology and is duly board-certified to practice urology in the United States and Canada. Following completion of his urology residency, he did a three-year urologic oncology surgical fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX, USA. Dr. Spiess has published over 85 peer-reviewed manuscripts and 15 book chapters in the field of urologic oncology. He has received several prizes for his research in the field of urologic oncology including the I Ritz Scholarship, Jack Lapides AUA Research Excellence Award, and the AUA Northeastern Section 1st Prize Essay. He has recently been nominated as a Member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network Committee (NCCN) establishing the guidelines in the management of bladder cancer. The focus of his clinical and basic science research is kidney, penile, prostate, testis, and bladder cancer.
